The holiday season in RVA is truly magical. There is not a better time of the year to either experience the River City for the first time or rediscover all the charm this city has to offer. Below is a list of our favorite winter holiday activities:
Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens
It wouldn’t feel like the holiday season without festive lights. Every year, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens offers a magnificent light display surrounding their entire property. They even provide s’mores and hot chocolate to enjoy around a big fire to warm up during your stroll.
Miracle® on Cary Street
If you’re looking for a festive drink, you’ll have to stop by The Jasper, an innovative cocktail bar located in Carytown. Exclusively for the holiday season and in partnership with Miracle®, they transform into a full-blown Christmas-themed bar. We can’t wait for the fun cocktails they mix up this year.
RTD Tacky Lights Tour
An easy addition to our list and a staple of Christmas is the tacky lights tour of all the decked-out houses in the area. The Richmond Times-Dispatch offers a great list of incredible homes close by and in the surrounding regions to easily plan out your trip in advance.
The Carytown Holiday Artisan Market
If you’re looking to polish off your holiday shopping while supporting small, local businesses, be sure to stop by the various holiday markets in Richmond. For 2021, The Carytown Holiday Artisan Market will be held on December 11-12 – featuring local artisans, food trucks, and live music.
The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen
The Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen, VA, offers terrific performances and activities throughout the year and during the holiday season. This year (2021), you’ll want to mark your calendars for the following events:
- Annual Tree Lighting and Illumination – December 4
- Henrico Theatre Company presents ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ – December 10-12
- The Nutcracker, Central Virginia Dance Academy – December 17-20
